A few weeks ago I shared our new round coffee table! We needed one that was more safe for Jack, but I love the design of the old one. Plus we had made it ourselves. So I decided to make it into some art for the dining room!

Here’s what you’ll need:
pallet
80 grit sandpaper
120 grit sandpaper
paint in your color choice
wax/polyurethane protectant of your choice
2 paint brushes
french cleat set
stainless steel wire
plies to cut wire with
stapler and staples
binder clips/clothes pins
screwdriver for french cleats
measuring tape
pictures – mine are from parabo

1. Sand your pallet until completely smooth. We used 80 and then 120.
2. Then paint it your desired color! I’d recommend priming it first, but you don’t have to.
3. Once you are done painting, I’d also protect it with some sort of wax or polyurethane.
4. Take your french cleat and screw one side into the back of the pallet on each of the vertical posts. Be sure to check them twice and screw once to be sure you have them placed correctly.
5. Next measure the distance between the two cleats and screw the other ends into the wall. Again be sure to check the measurement twice and check the decoration of our cleats.
6. Then hang it on the wall!
7. Now the fun part! Take your wire and staple one end to the top plank. I twisted it over and placed a few more staples over top for extra security. Then unravel the wire all the way across to the other side of the top plank, cut it off once it’s a good size, and staple it securely.
8. Repeat step 4 for as many rows as you need/want.
9. Set your pictures out along the rows and decide how you want them placed. Some pictures have colors or filters that don’t look well next to each other. You also want to be sure people, places, landscapes, etc are not repeating. Or maybe you want them to repeat!
10. Once you know have you pictures placed secure them with your hooks.

I’ve wanted a family gallery wall for awhile now, and this is the perfect solution until we have more space! I do have a flat back to my pallet since it used to be our coffee table instead of the openness they usually have. If you wanted that look instead, just measure the space between the two vertical pieces and have the hardware store cut a piece of plywood to fit. Screw it into the middle horizontal pieces and paint it the same color! If I were making this from scratch, I wouldn’t worry with that tho.
