Today I have another easy, but still super cute craft for your front door. Front door decor is very important to me. This year taking down the Christmas wreath made me a little sadder than usual. So I knew I needed to make something new to decorate the front door with to get me excited!
Living in Florida, there’s lots of beach decor in all the stores. I’ve recently seen whalecome on plenty of decor recently. Being a lover of puns, I instantly fell in love. So I decided to make my own whalecome sign!
wooden whale – I found mine here, but I did see smaller ones in the Target craft section.
acrylic paint
paint brush
sand paper
metallic permanent marker
2ft of thin rope
pencil with eraser
stapler
If your whale is not painted then you’ll want to start by sanding it smooth and painting it.
Once it’s fully dry, take your pencil and slowly trace out your wording. This way there won’t be any mistakes when you go in with the permanent marker.
Trace over your pencil markings with the permanent marker slowly and carefully.
Fold your rope in half. Then staple the loop on the left side of the whale belly. As long as you do it near the top there’s no need to measure.
Tie a small knot at the end of the unstapled side of the rope then staple it on the right side of the whale belly. Again do it near the top.
Hang up your whale and enjoy!
