When I booked our flights to go home I reserved 1 large checked bag and 1 carry on bag. I figured that plus backpacks for under our seats would be plenty. We can buy diapers once we’re in Indiana and we’re breastfeeding. So other than clothes, Jack only adds a noise machine, a breast pump, and a carrier. The car seat will not be packed, and we’re not taking the stroller (maybe I should tho?). But I forgot about presents. I have to somehow get our presents home. So we’re all going to be on a capsule wardrobe. Especially mama and daddy whose clothes take up quite a lot of room.
I’ve done the capsule wardrobe many times, but never for a vacation. So I was little lost. After some research and some pinteresting, I came up on the 5,4,3,2,1 idea and decided to make it my own for this vacation capsule. With the 5,4,3,2,1 idea, you take 5 of the main item and go down from there. For me the main items were tops, bottoms, shoes, and jackets (since we’re going North). Then I just needed accessories. So my list looks like this 5 tops and 5 earrings. 4 bottoms/dresses and 4 shoes. 3 jackets and 3 bags. 2 sunglasses and 2 necklaces. 1 hat and 1 watch.
split neck top . navy v neck . chambray . button up . graphic tee . amethyst studs . black studs . tear drop earrings . cluster earrings . tassel earrings . jeans . black jeans . striped dress . green dress
leopard flats . riding boots . booties . sperry’s . jean jacket . northface jacket . cardigan . clutch . crossbody . tote . initial necklace . statement necklace
hexagon sunglasses . coach sunglasses . hat . watch
Most of the time I’ll need to be dressy, casual so jeans and nicer tops were the way to go. The dresses are for when I need to be dressed up. I chose some dainty jewelry to wear during the day and a few statement pieces for the dressier times. The jackets I chose are mostly for warmth and to add over the simple shirts I’m bringing. Jackets are great finisher pieces when you need a simple, warm outfit. I almost didn’t bring 3 bags. Jack will be with me the whole time as far as I know so I’ll always need the diaper bag. There is a chance we’ll go see a movie after he goes to bed (while grandma stays with him), and the clutch doesn’t take much room.
The rest I think is pretty self explanatory! Have you ever done a vacation capsule?

My Christmas trip home was VERY specific: 6 Christmas sweaters/sweatshirts, 1 pair of pants, 2 pairs of leggings, 2 tops that are not Christmas sweaters, one puffy vest, one pompom hat, 3 bracelets, 3 pairs of earrings, 1 reindeer necklace, 2 headbands, 1 pair of boots and 1 pair of house shoes…. and 2 pairs of pjs… you make me feel like maybe I needed more pants or shoes? Less Christmas sweaters? Lol
