the one with winter capsule 2015

The first Monday of January is always the official start of the new year for me. So that day is today! I spent last week living it up, celebrating the new year, and showing one of the best gals around Indianapolis. In my free time I got prepared for and dreamed of 2015.

One of the things I dreamed of was my winter capsule wardrobe. I learned a lot from my Fall Capsule and I prepared a clear vision of what I want my fashion to evolve to for 2015. Here’s the details . . .

Colors – I like color a lot. I think neutrals wash me out. I’d like to incorporate them a little more because it’s very trendy, but every time I do I’m disappointed in how I look. So this winter capsule is full of jewel tones.

Layers – I tried to incorporate lots of basic pieces that can be layered and then layered again. I think that’s going to be a big key for a winter capsule is lots of layering – keeping warm and lots of options.

Numbers – I only included 25 pieces – some of them I haven’t settled on just yet or have ordered and they aren’t in yet so I don’t want to definitely include them until I see how they fit. I only included 25 because in my fall capsule there were about 8 shirts I didn’t wear at all – and I had a few more ideas only including the pieces I did wear.

Purge/buy – The above paragraph made me really go through and purge the ole closet. I had gotten rid of some fall/winter pieces that I didn’t want to include in last capsule, but I did hang on to some that weren’t included – mostly for sentimental reasons or knowing I’d want to include it in the winter. I got over it. I finally saw how little I need some things and so a big purge is finally happening. This time around I’m very limited on what I can buy. I need a new/better structured black blazer, and I want to add a new sweater. I’m also going to allow myself 3 splurge pieces for when I find stuff I really want, but aren’t going to fit in the capsule. I might decide on a new winter coat when prices start to go down – I love my coat now but I’ve had it for 2 years so I feel a change coming for next year.

Now let’s get to what I’m including . . . capsulewinter2015bottoms capsulewinter2015dresses capsulewinter2015jackets capsulewinter2015shoes capsulewinter2015tops   1.black leggings 2.grey jeans 3.skinny jeans 4.similar red fit and flare dress 5.black dress 6.long sleeve t’s 7.purple t 8.white button up 9. white sweater 10.grey striped sweater stitch fix 11. ??? 12.long sleeve t’s 13.similar wine blouse 14. white tunic 15. ??? 16. skater skirt 17.grey skirt – old navy last season 18. leopard print flats 19. black heels 20. cognac booties 21.  cognac boots 22. black boots 23. grey cardigan 24. black blazer – thrifted 25. white blazer
