the one with a beauty wishlist

My skin has always been very dry, except my forehead. It was this way for as long as I can remember. But when we moved to Florida it all changed! And so my skin care had to change as well. At the time, my skin had started to breakout a lot so I needed a change anyway. But as fall (and winter) back in Indiana are right around the corner. So I can’t help but think it’s time to make some changes again. That dry skin is most likely on it’s way back to my face. Skincare isn’t always fun though, so thinking about that always makes me think about beauty products in general. Spending a bunch of money on lotions for my face just sounds better when I get a fun lipstick to go with it. So here’s some things that are my beauty wishlist currently .  .  .

succulent gel . Loreal hydra genius glowing water moisturizer . ombre lip color . Becca x Chrissy Teigen pallet . skin laundry mask . dior iconic overcurl mascara . too cool for school body wash . verb sea conditioner

the one with a new mom beauty wishlist

Is anybody else like me and always have a list of beauty products you want to try, but you never get around to it? I find things I like and I get to busy to find things that might be better. Or I find things I don’t like and get to busy to order something new. With hte final countdown on before I have Jack I’ve decided to replenish my makeup bag and get some things I’ve been wanting to try.

dior iconic overcurl mascara  – If I could have lash extensions at all times I would. But it’s expensive, and I only trust one person to do it. That person lives in Indiana and I live in Florida. Since I can’t I need a baller mascara, and I’ve heard from many people that this is the best.

rene furterer ABSOLUE KERATINE ULTIMATE RENEWAL MASK-COLORLESS – Pregnancy has made my hair so voluminous. But since it’s already super thick that means tangles come. The Florida heat means I also get frizz. So I’m in need of a good hair mask.

YVES SAINT LAURENT TOUCHE ÉCLAT – The description of this product is ‘this iconic product conceals dark circles and highlights your best features, adding instant radiance to your face.’ Why do we not get a lifetime supply of this for free in child birth classes?

bumble and bumble surf infusion – Products to make doing my hair quick and easy. Yes, please.

OLAY PROFESSIONAL PRO-X AGE REPAIR LOTION WITH SPF30 – I’ve always had dark circles and only concealers help. Now that I’m not sleeping with a big belly they’ve gotten worse, and I know it’s not gonna get better once what’s inside that big belly comes out. I’ve heard this works wonders.

the one with my pregnancy beauty routine

Four months ago, I listed some of the natural ways I had researched to prevent and heal pregnancy acne. You can find that post here. Since then I’ve tried all of those ways, and I wanted to share my results! So today we have my full pregnancy beauty routine! When I searched for pregnancy acne, I couldn’t find much that helped. My goal here is to help future pregnant ladies find a way that might work for them. Having acne doesn’t mean a thing for our beauty, but it’s still frustrating, right ladies?! Dealing with it during pregnancy, is just one more thing we shouldn’t have to deal with.

The first way I tried was a honey and cinnamon exfoliater, which I love and am still using. The 2nd way was a lemon juice toner, which I also love and am still using. So with 2 out of 3 going well, I decided to try the final one – aloe vera. I didn’t keep up with the aloe vera. It didn’t make it worse, but it didn’t make it better. I didn’t want to completely change my routine –  just add some natural products that would help with the major hormonal acne I had in the first trimester. Here’s my current pregnancy beauty routine!

beginning and after 1 month
beginning and after 1 month

In the morning:

I wet my face with cold water, apply lemon juice toner on acne, and gently tap in eye cream. Foundation is an important step as it protects your face during the day. So even when I don’t wear makeup I apply a tinted moisturizer before I brush my teeth. Brushing your teeth is also important because your teeth and gums become more sensitive during pregnancy.

In the evening:

I use a cleanser or wipe/makeup remover before applying the lemon juice toner again, if I have a bad breakout I do go ahead and use an acne treatment cream. Those aren’t recommend during pregnancy because of salicylic acid, but my doctor says it’s ok since it’s something I used regularly before pregnancy ( I still only use it RARELY). Then I gently tap in my eye cream and moisturizer before I floss, brush my teeth, and rinse with an alcohol free Listerine (in that order per my dentist). I also apply a belly butter, lotion on my legs (dry skin is major during pregnancy), and take my pre natal vitamin before bed.

Bi-weekly, I use the honey and cinnamon exfoliator and once a week I still use my favorite tea tree oil mask. Here’s a picture of that side of my face from this weekend (no filter, no makeup – just leftover stubborn mascara). There are a few red spots from scarring – don’t pick your face! But mostly it’s all clear 🙂 That makes for one happy pregnant lady!

the one with aloe vera

About three months ago, I listed some of the natural ways I had researched to prevent and heal pregnancy acne. You can find that post here. Since then I’ve tried 1 of those ways, and I wanted to share my results! When I searched for pregnancy acne, I couldn’t find much that helped. I love a mixture of aloe vera and vinegar when I get a sunburn. The redness, dryness, and pain all goes away. Some of the acne spots were painful, the entire area was dry, and some of the spots were obviously scars that weren’t going away. So all signs pointed to aloe vera working. All I had to was rub natural aloe on the scarring!

Well, I’m sorry to say it didn’t work you guys. It didn’t get worse, but it didn’t get better either. This is what I used, and I’ve heard great reviews. I also tried regular old sun burn aloe vera from Walmart after 2 weeks of the other stuff. You win some, you lose some right!?

Next month, I’ll finish up this series with my pregnancy skin care routine and how the acne has cleared up from that first awful picture I showed you of my face!

the one with diy lemon juice toner

About two months ago I listed some of the natural ways I had researched to prevent and heal pregnancy acne. You can find that post here. Since then I’ve tried 1 of those ways, and I wanted to share my results! When I searched for pregnancy acne, I couldn’t find much that helped. My goal here is to help future pregnant ladies find a way that might work for them. Having acne doesn’t mean a thing for our beauty, but it’s still frustrating, right ladies?! Dealing with it during pregnancy, is just one more thing we shouldn’t have to deal with.

The first of the ways I decided to try you can find here. I’m still using my bee sting scrub about twice a week, and love it as a deep exfoliater. This month I added a lemon juice toner. Here’s how I made mine . . .

lemontoner

Ingredients:
2 tablspoons apple cider vinegar
1/3 cup water
1/2 cup lemon juice

In a small bottler, combine acv, water and a lemon juice. Shake well and spray or soak onto a cotton pad and gently wipe down your face. Focus on areas where acne or large pores are present.

My face has almost completely cleared up now that I’ve added this. I’m extremely happy with it and love the feeling of my skin after using my toner. Full disclosure I did have a facial during the month that I added this in, but I had already noticed a difference. It’s been a few weeks since my facial and my skin isn’t returning back to it’s volcanic ways. Next month I’m going to share my updated ‘maternity’ skin care routine and picture of my face before and after!

Have you ever made your own toner?

About a month ago I listed some of the natural ways I had researched to prevent and heal pregnancy acne. You can find that post here. The first of the 3 treatments I decided to try was honey. I’ve used honey for many other things, and it always works wonders so when I found the shop Lather & Co and their bee string face scrub (made with honey and cinnamon) I knew it was a great place to start. Talking with their owner Jules about all the success stories for this face scrub and acne, I grabbed it and started using it as soon as possible.

From their etsy shop, “Honey has been used as an anti inflammatory to help reduce redness on the skin and as a natural antibiotic that has been known to alleviate and reduce scarring over time. Cinnamon has been rated as one of the top 7 antioxidants in the world, according to USDA, and can reduce the formation of “free-radicals” which, over time, can promote damage repair. Both honey and cinnamon are extremely effective as a mild disinfectant because of their anti fungal and antibacterial properties.” Well that sounds perfect for the redness, acne, and all the scarring that’s leaving on my face.

I added this to my normal skin care routine, 2 to 3 times a week. And slowly, but surely I see a lot of improvement. It’s been 4 weeks of using it regularly, and I’d say my face is about half healed. You can see the results above for yourself! Both are fresh from a shower with no makeup on because #noshame.

Have you used honey to help heal acne? Next up on my list to try is a lemon juice toner!

*this is not a sponsored post. I found Jules at the Vero Beach Street fair and truly feel the bee sting face scrub is helping.

the one about pregnancy acne

One thing I always read was the if you’re pregnant with a boy the prettier you’ll be, and if you’re pregnant with a girl you’ll give your beauty to her. Of course, that’s a myth. But I read it everywhere and heard it from lots of friends. Well, if that myth is true, this here is your proof that every pregnancy is different. My face looks like a volcano has erupted all over the left side and a little bit has slid down to the right side and my chin. I’ve been doing a lot of research on natural remedies because when pregnant it’s unsafe to use products that contain retinol, alpha hydroxy acids and salicylic acid. Answers are everywhere! And some of those answers were to live with it because you’re pregnant and crap happens. Well, I compiled the legit ones for those of us that want to use natural products or those of that have to because we’re pregnant . . .

lemon-juice-and-honey

1. Lemon juice: Rich in vitamin C and known for its acidic pH, lemon juice has natural pimple-fighting properties, which makes it a popular ingredient in home skincare regimes. Squeeze half of a freshly cut lime and apply the juice on your pimples every night using a small cotton swab. If your skin is extra-sensitive, dilute the juice with a little water to reduce the burning sensation.

2. Honey: Loaded with antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and healing properties, honey is the safest home remedy to curtail your pregnancy-related acne. Not only does it fights germs and prevents the acne from spreading, it also soothes the skin. Make a honey face pack by mixing a teaspoon each of honey, turmeric and lime juice and apply all over the face. Rinse after 20 minutes with lukewarm water.

3. Aloe Vera: A skin elixir known for its cooling properties, aloe vera helps in reducing inflammation and prevents scars and blemishes. Take 1tsp aloe vera gel and apply it evenly on your entire face. Wash off after 15 minutes with lukewarm water.

Over the next few weeks I’ll be trying them out to see if I can’t get the volcano under control. And the first thing I’ll do is update all of you as to what’s working and what’s not.

the one with a two minute face

Lately, I’ve been just too busy and too tired to worry about makeup. So I’ve perfected the two minute face. Everything I need to look alive, awake, alert, and sometimes even glamorous in just two minutes. All you need are these 5 products – or your favorite brands of the same sorts of things.

two minute face

L’Oreal Paris Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream, Light  – I’m a firm believer that some type of foundation or tinted moisturizer is needed to protect your skin. It’s just an added benefit that they even your skin tone.

Fake Up Crease-Control Hydrating Concealer by BeneFit Cosmetics Light 3.5g – The tiredness means I need some sort of concealer for the under eyes. But that’s all I cover-up these days.

NARS Blush, Orgasm – Once you’ve got a fairly even skin tone you have to something to add a little color and brighten things up. Nars is a great brand, and I do love everyone’s favorite color.

Revlon Color Burst Matte Lip Balm, 250 Standout, 0.095 Ounce – Even though it’s a two minute face you can be a little glam with a bold lip 🙂 or just a soft gloss for a neutral face.

L’Oreal Paris Voluminous Original Mascara, Carbon Black, 0.26 Fluid Ounce – I think mascara is every woman’s choice of the one makeup item you have to have so this needs no explanation.

the one with homemade blackhead remover

Over on My Crafty Spot today I’m talking about one of my favorite beauty diy’s – shower jellies. I love lush products, but I can’t always afford them. DIY shower jellies are the perfect match for me and girls like me! They’re quick, easy and just as wonderful as they’re lush inspiration.

diyshowerjellies

To make them you need plain gelatin – what in the world else do I use plain gelatin for? I looked up several recipes, and decided to use another one of the packets for another beauty related diy. The one I decided on was a homemade blackhead remover! I don’t have a lot of blackheads, and the ones I have are all on my nose. So no need to spend a bunch of money, right!? To make the blackhead remover all you need is two tablespoons of milk and one sachet of colorless and flavorless gelatin. Heat the milk and pour the gelatin sachet, then stir continuously until the substance is completely mixed. Once you have finished mixing, the resulting substance can be applied to areas where you have blackheads and leave it on the skin until it dries and hardens. Finally, pull the pore strip carefully in order to remove blackheads. Before you make this mask the skin should be clean and you can keep your head over a hot pot of water for steam to open the pores.

the one with green nail polish

The easiest and simplest way that can allow any woman to quickly change her look and enhance her elegance is using nail polish. Changing the color of your nails and making amazing artistic creations on them from time to time or even every day doesn’t even cost you a lot of money. You can decorate your nails on your own through making use of the latest nail polish trends and the nail art designs. Some trends to keep in mind for this season – short/rounded nails, negative space, opal nails, metallic colors, and ombre is still around making waves in nail trends just the way I like it.

greenpolish

Here today aragon tomorrow – opi . I dream of greenie – tru gel . Hunter by Zoya . billionaire Deborah lipmann

But the nail trend that is my favorite is green polish. Specifically dark, hunter, winter greens!  Dark nails have been here for a long, long time, and I think we can all agree that we love the edge and style they give. But in 2016 instead of blacks and red . . .  we’re all going green! So today I’ve got 4 lined up that I’ve tried out for you and know are great.

Have you tried green nail polish yet? Do you love it as much as I?
