the one with Jack at 17 months

Jack William at 17 months . . .

Height:  32 inches

Head: 18 inches

Weight: 26 lbs

Basics: He’s recently eating shrimp, and he’s actually getting better about vegetables. Honestly, I have dropped the ball a bit with all the pregnancy issues. We’re not eating McDonald’s every meal, but we’re not eating great. So I’m doing my best to get us back on our meal plan which includes lots of hidden vegetables. Scott is helping more than usual (he’s a big help, but i’m the cook), we have Jack’s specific meal plan right on the fridge so everyone can see it, and I am feeling better. So his eating has gotten better in the past week or so.

Sleeping is great! We added a rail guard to his crib so he can get in and out on his own. It was hard for me to get him in and out. The first couple days he could tell something was different and struggled to fall asleep. Then it took him awhile to learn how to get in and out. Once he got that, it was hard to get him to stay in there. 🙂  But after about a week of consistency he’s got it down! He’s my big boy! In the mornings or if he wakes up and needs something overnight (super rare) he doesn’t cry anymore, he just gets up and comes to get me!

Fun Stuff: We’re still cloth diapering him about 50% of the time. I’m so happy we went this route, we’ve saved so much money. I also know we’re putting just clean fabrics on him most of the time.

He’s walking backwards, running, climbing on everything. He’s just very mobile. But he is a bit apprehensive to go down the stairs still. We’re trying to teach him to scoot or to climb backwards, but he’s just very apprehensive about it. It would be great if he could do that on his own before his little brother gets here. But I’m trying not to rush his babyhood away! He also plays different recently. Like he knows what coloring is, he knows to build the blocks into shapes, he knows to run the cars on the track, he knows what buttons to push for what noises, he knows which books are his favorites, etc, etc. He’s just growing up.

We let him stay the night with my parents every couple weeks because that’s who he’s going to stay with while we’re in the hospital. It’s basically like we don’t exist as soon as he shows up. There have been zero problems. Other than that though he is a bit clingy to Scott and I. I can’t help but wonder if he knows something is going on (little brother).

He’s made a lot of improvements on words this month as well. He says ‘I want to get that,’ ‘get down’, ‘water’, ‘what’s this,’ ‘who’s that’, ‘daddy’ instead of dada, night night, bye bye, hi, and he attempts hungry lol.
