I’m still working on getting over being sick, and getting this blog started up again ya’ll. But a few friends have asked about pregnancy updates. I am 34 weeks!
How far along? 34 weeks with baby number two
Maternity clothes? yes, and some barely fit
Sleep: sleeping isn’t bad once he stops moving enough for me to fall asleep. However, getting out of bed is a problem.
Best moment: snow! it was a nice quiet month with a couple snow days. I’m over it now, though.
Miss Anything?: a drank. and that’s not gonna change. also no back pain
Movement: lots and lots
Food cravings: I actually have to remind myself to eat. I’m just really uncomfortable all the time. I do get very thirsty tho. Of course, I want chocolate or a coke everyday. Probably because I’m not eating enough.
Don’t worry I’m taking all my vitamins.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope! I did get the flu twice, but not because I’m pregnant.
Gender: Benjamin Stark … we’ll get a middle name one day.
Symptoms: This is long because I want to remember it. I go back and read pregnancy updates from Jack’s pregnancy, and enjoy it 🙂
Day to day I’m good. No headaches, heartburn only at night, the dryness is better. And my doctor says this is a very healthy, normal pregnancy. My weight gain is good, no major swelling, no gestational diabetes, baby is good! BUT I have major back pain – like I’m in tears every morning, husband has to lift me from bed, and it seizes up when I lift Jack – I randomly lost 5 lbs (probably because I got the flu), I’m anemic (I was with Jack as well), and even though weight gain is good I’m measuring at 40 weeks. I’ve been told a few different things by different specialist and doctors. He’s sitting on my sciatic nerve, he’s sitting low because he’s my 2nd, he’s a big baby, i’m carrying a lot of water, he’s sitting on my cervix, my hips are incredibly far out of alignment, etc.
I love my ob. She’s very supportive, knows her ish, is blunt but not scary. So she recommended we have a precautionary ultrasound done just to check on him. Turns out he’s breech, is sitting on my cervix or close to my cervix, and is approximately a pound and a half bigger than the average baby at this point in most pregnancies. We should obviously start trying to get him to flip, but pressure from his head on my cervix might cause it to open.So all in all we’re fine . . . he’s just a big baby sitting in an inconvenient position. She did put me on modified bed rest as a precaution. Basically just to make me take it easy and keep the pressure off my cervix as much as possible.
But a week after this happened I got the flu for the second time in 6 weeks. The first time I got a very mild case, and lots of snarky looks about it. I called the doctor, got a heavy duty nauseous medicine, threw up once, drank lots of Gatorade, slept for about 24 hours, ate peanut butter toast for a day after that, and I was good. Not even sure it was the flu because I never got a fever. Everyone else had the flu though so I’m sure I did as well . . . and yes i did get the flu shot before this.
But this time was quite bad. I was back and forth from the bathroom doing all levels of everything from 11:30 Sunday night to 11:30 Monday morning. The leftover nauseous meds did not work. Still no fever and Ben was moving a lot, so the doctor was mostly only worried that I stayed hydrated. My belly had noticeably gotten smaller and it felt like I had lost 100 lbs.
I’m a week out from that episode and have seen the doctor since. Everything is fine with the baby! I’m actually measuring at 36 weeks instead of 40 now. The back pain is quite a bit better. Losing that water weight, a couple trips to the chiro, and a massage will do that I guess. Now we watch my blood pressure and just see if I go into labor naturally before 38 weeks. and pray I don’t get sick again.
Belly Button in or out? in, and I doubt it comes out
Wedding rings on or off? on, but some days it’s a little tight.
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy! lots of stress, but mostly happy. Of course, my husband might disagree as he deals with the stress and back pain tears.
Looking forward to? finishing his nursery and getting him out
