the one with yogurt bites

Today I wanted to share a very quick and easy recipe! Yogurt bites! This one is perfect for babies. It’s one I make for Jack quite often and he eats them up. Of course,  it’s frozen yogurt so it melts quickly. That causes a mess . .  . a big one. But guys, when they’re learning to eat, it’s all messy.

Ingredients:

1 cup of yogurt

1/2 cup of favorite fruit

To do:

  1. blend fruit and yogurt together until it’s all the consistency of yogurt
  2. pour it into a ziplock baggie, then cut a little hole into the corner. That way it looks pastry bag.
  3. Next pour little drop over wax paper on a cookie sheet
  4. Then freeze for at least an hour!
  5. Last, enjoy!

the one with glory

This Summer it’s all about the 5 pieces 1 outfit in real life. 5 pieces 1 outfit is the first series here on the blog every other Friday. It stemmed from my love of classic yet modern, easy to wear, chic and simple fashion. This Summer will be one of the busiest ever for me, and I live in Florida so it’s gonna be hot. I don’t want to have a lot on, and getting ready can’t take a lot of time. It’s the perfect time to do a ton of 5 pieces 1 outfit real life posts! I have a formula when I do these in real life – top, bottom, shoes, earrings, finisher. My finisher depends on what I’m doing and it also means I might actually photograph 6 or more pieces, but I’ll explain each outfit so you’ll understand why.

I wore this outfit way back on Easter because glory and Jesus. It was super comfortable tho, and seeing it again reminds me to wear it again! Do you ever have outfits like that?

5 pieces 1 outfit: wedding guest

Hey friends! 5 pieces 1 outfit is a twice monthly series where we feature 5 pieces that bring together 1 perfect outfit. It doesn’t take a lot of time, money, and or pieces to create a fashionable look that anyone can create. 5 pieces is all you need to make another outfit killer. First, I find it’s best to have a theme so you have a place to build from. That can be a color combo or maybe even an event. But most of all you just need a good base piece. This week’s theme is wedding guest attire!

the one with Jack’s 11 months update

He’s 11 months old! One more month and I’ll have a toddler.

Height:  32 inches

Head: 19 inches

Weight: 21 lbs

Nicknames: Dumplin, jackster, jack jack, sweet pea

Sleeping and Feeding: All of a sudden, he started to self wean from breastfeeding. We had already knocked out the 3 pm feeding in July. He pretty obviously wasn’t interested in the 11 o’clock anymore. So that only left before breakfast, before bed, and overnight. Because of some personal things happening I decided to go ahead and see how he did if we knocked out one more. The easiest to do was before breakfast. He’s eating solids so well, I knew if we just went straight to real food soon after waking up he’d be fine. I was right!

That led to him becoming an eating machine. He eats real food so, so well. I’m going to do a post soon on a whole day of his food so you can see. Just a snapshot, he eats two scrambled eggs, a piece of toasts, 1/2 cup of fruit, and some yogurt between 6am to 10am. The best part is that eating so much more during the day means he knocked out the overnight feeding all on his own. Knock on all the wood so this keeps up! I said I would make it a year so I’m going to keep nursing him before bed until he’s a year old, and then we’ll wean him from that. It’s going to be rough – for me and him.

Fun Stuff:  He talks all the time. He says bye, bye and waves appropriately – he says dada all the time, and mama when he wants something ha – and he says hey when you say hey! He’s starting to make animal sounds with his toys. He points and can tell me what he needs. Being in Indiana he has tons of built in friends that he gets to see a lot. In Florida he had lots of friends, but none were his age except Miss Lucy. It’s fun to see him play with kids his age, and his cousins. He’s losing weight, but the doctor isn’t worried because he has lots more room to move around. Crawling so so fast and he’s pulling himself up to his knees and standing all the time. So lots more movement and lots more space!

He’s still handling the move really well. It’s like he doesn’t even notice what happened. He did get a little fussier and clingier and there were a couple rough nights sleep. But we can track those to other things as well as or instead of the move. We move into our new house and final stop soon. But he’ll be with grandma while the move happens, and my first priority is unpacking his stuff so he might not notice that one either! Let’s hope.

One more glaucoma appointment to be in the clear!

the one with a casual black dress

This Summer it’s all about the 5 pieces 1 outfit in real life. 5 pieces 1 outfit is the first series here on the blog every other Friday. This casual black dress is actually a maternity dress. I love it for pregnancy because it’s so stretchy. When I’m pregnant I feel so beautiful and honestly sexy. So a tight dress to show off my figure is right up my ally. Currently though, I’m 9 months postpartum. I’ve lost all the baby weight, but everything sits differently. I could do some exercises and tighten it up, lose the weight I needed to lose pre pregnancy. But it’s in our plan to have another baby. So for now I’m embracing it. That means I still look pregnant in this dress. But it’s fine because it’s comfortable and keeps me cool!

the one with Jack’s style

I was a little worried about dressing a little boy. He needs to be stylish ya know, and I have so much fun shopping! But all the men in my family and my husbands aren’t really into fashion so the chances are slim Jack will be. So his style needs to be stylish and easy. I also don’t want to spend a lot of money on his clothes since he grows out of them so quickly. There are 4 main places we buy his clothes; here’s the details and some pieces currently on his wish list (mama’s wish list).

striped shorts . hoodie . onesie set . shoes . shorts with suspenders . mickey hoodie . pants . chambray button up . tank . hat

  1. Target – Most days Jack is just in a onesie. I get most of them here. Their Cat and Jack line is awesome! I also get basic white onesies to put underneath button ups, shoes, socks, and fun holiday stuff. You know like a random tee to wear on easter and never again. So far he usually wears the size of the month he’s closest to.
  2. Carter’s – Carter’s has weird sizing. He always wears about 3 months bigger than he is. (they come in 3 months, 6 months, 9 months, 12 months). He’s almost 9 months and he has to wear 12 months. But they have really well made clothing. I especially love their shorts and pants. My favorite thing about Carter’s are their clearance racks. They are very cyclical with their clearance and keep everything organized and updated wonderfully!
  3. Old Navy – If you’ve ever visited the blog you know I love Old Navy for myself so it wasn’t a hard stretch to find Jack clothes here. I’ve bought him everything here, but I focus on dressier clothes. I love their dress pants and button ups. Their sizing is weird as well. Like his clothing is labeled 6-12 months right now.
  4. H & M – Here is where I get all of Jack’s trendier items. He doesn’t wear many trendy items mostly because there isn’t an H&M close. I love online shopping for myself, but not for Jack oddly.

the one about Florida

I’m from Indiana, but we live in Florida. It truly feels like home so when I saw this shirt I had to snatch it up. That’s all because we have such wonderful friends. I knew we’d need to find a church to find friends down here so we jumped in as soon as we felt ready. Guys, they are my family now. I love this little church and this little beach town of mine more than I thought was possible 2.5 years ago. Indiana was my home for 29 years and my family is there. But now I have 2 homes.

the one with a chicken pesto sandwich

You know I love easy recipes. So here’s one for you today! It’s for a chicken pesto sandwich that is both easy and delicious! It’s a little time consuming, which is not my usual. But it’s worth it for the tastiness! I usually just buy pre made pesto because . . . this is an easy recipe. But go ahead and make your own if you’re down. Ok here’s the recipe for the chicken pesto sandwich!

Ingredients:

everything bagel

chicken breast

1/4 cup pesto

slice of mozzarella cheese

slice of bacon

How to:

  1. Bake chicken as you usually would with pesto poured over the top.
  2. When you have 5 minutes left place cheese on top of chicken. Bake last 5 minutes or until chicken is cooked and cheese is melted.
  3. While the chicken finished cooking, toast the bagel then cook the bacon.
  4. Then layer your sandwich together.
  5. Enjoy!

This floral dress is 4 years old, but it’s still one of my favorites. I bought it for my bridal shower from old navy. Now I wear it to other showers and to church quite often. I’ve linked a couple very similar dresses. Old navy has the style still, but no florals this year!
