the one with a new mom beauty wishlist

Is anybody else like me and always have a list of beauty products you want to try, but you never get around to it? I find things I like and I get to busy to find things that might be better. Or I find things I don’t like and get to busy to order something new. With hte final countdown on before I have Jack I’ve decided to replenish my makeup bag and get some things I’ve been wanting to try.

dior iconic overcurl mascara  – If I could have lash extensions at all times I would. But it’s expensive, and I only trust one person to do it. That person lives in Indiana and I live in Florida. Since I can’t I need a baller mascara, and I’ve heard from many people that this is the best.

rene furterer ABSOLUE KERATINE ULTIMATE RENEWAL MASK-COLORLESS – Pregnancy has made my hair so voluminous. But since it’s already super thick that means tangles come. The Florida heat means I also get frizz. So I’m in need of a good hair mask.

YVES SAINT LAURENT TOUCHE ÉCLAT – The description of this product is ‘this iconic product conceals dark circles and highlights your best features, adding instant radiance to your face.’ Why do we not get a lifetime supply of this for free in child birth classes?

bumble and bumble surf infusion – Products to make doing my hair quick and easy. Yes, please.

OLAY PROFESSIONAL PRO-X AGE REPAIR LOTION WITH SPF30 – I’ve always had dark circles and only concealers help. Now that I’m not sleeping with a big belly they’ve gotten worse, and I know it’s not gonna get better once what’s inside that big belly comes out. I’ve heard this works wonders.

the last one with the cognac jacket

I’m really craving fall outfits lately. This summer has been extremely hot. It might be the extra blood flow, the extra 13 lbs, and the extra human inside of me. But it’s still been a hot one. I feel like I’ve lived in short shorts and tank tops for 4 months. It’s no wonder I’m craving fall, right!? I decided to wear some light weight clothes and accessorize with my favorite cognac jacket.

7 years ago, I found this jacket in the Target clearance line just randomly. Clothes weren’t even on my mind at the time. It was a little small, but it was only $8. So I had to buy it. I did, and I stretched it out so it fit perfect as a little moto jacket. It was literally the perfect jacket. It was my faithful servant for 7 years. I wore it daily for awhile, and consistently for 6 years. Then last year it started to tear around the neck. Since I didn’t want to lose it I limited our time together. After this wear though, it completely unraveled and we had to have a funeral.

That is the story of the most perfect jacket that is now in fashion heaven. Let’s have a moment of silence. Thank you for your time.

the one with favorite random internet finds

Sometime within the next 6 weeks I’ll be giving birth. I’m not going to lie to you it feels so far away. But then I realize I could also give birth tomorrow to a healthy baby. Part of me is more than ready. Part of me is freaking out. When that happens I shut down. So I’ve been spending lots of time on the internet lately. Here’s my favorite random internet finds . . .

    1. somebody needs to make one of these for baby Jack ASAP. or if I could at least see the complete lay out. I don’t have the brain function to come up with one on my own.
    2. I’m a nosy person so I love to see inside people’s houses and inside their purses. So I love this j. crew post!

Untitled3. I’ve really been craving some new sunglasses. I crave them like I crave pizza. I think these are my next purchase! is it ok to buy things for myself at this point in pregnancy?
4. I think these may be our christmas cards this year. But maybe we’ll get a good sleeper!? I have to keep myself laughing.

5. this is how I feel. and it makes me feel overwhelmed and speechless.

the one with a strawberry mango cocktail

Hello friends! Just a few short days until September begins. This year has flown by, hasn’t it!? Maybe because I slept through all of it except May and June. It could also be because the past 6 months have been spent helping my husband study. Let me brag a minute . . . A few weeks ago my husband took a huge exam to get a certification for his job. For most people it takes around 3 years to get this certification, but Scott decided to get it done in 1.5. I could tell you how hard this was. But I think it’s the obvious assumption so all I say is he passed with flying colors. And so we celebrated . . .

I’m not a big drinker. So I just haven’t drank at all while pregnant. However, I really wanted to celebrate with a drink. A mocktail was the perfect choice. So I created a strawberry mango cocktail! It’s a lot like sangria, but with honey and no wine.

2 cups sliced strawberries
½ cup diced mango
¼ cup honey
1 cup Mango-Orange Juice (or regular orange juice)
1 liter of Sprite or Club Soda

How to:

  1. Add strawberries, mango, honey, ice and orange juice to a blender and blend until smooth. Place in a airtight container and refrigerate until ready to serve.
  2. Fill glasses with ice and pour about ⅓ cup of strawberry mango mixture over ice. Top with Sprite or club soda and stir to combine.
  3. Serve immediately.

What are your favorite mocktails!?

the one with a back to school wishlist

Back to school, back to school. To prove to Dad that I’m not a fool. I got my lunch packed up, and My boots tied tight. I hope I don’t get in a fight.

Hey friends! It’s officially the end of the week! We’re almost there! Every year in the month of August, this becomes my favorite song. Most kids and teachers are already well into the school year. I’ve been sitting here a little jealous for the last couple weeks. However, all that I really miss is the back to school shopping. So I decided to make a wishlist of all the things I’d buy for the first day of school. Since I’m an adult now, I decided that money was no object. Mama would have never let me spend this much on a backpack . . .

back to school

nike’s . Every year I got new tennis shoes for gym class. I don’t think I ever fully appreciated it.  Tennis shoes add such a layer of style, but I always ignored it. This year I’d go with a nice creamsicle color just because I can.

kate spade gold pens . pretty pens were a big deal. a big deal. but I never thought about quality back then. Now I do, and these are some of my favorites. Plus, gold.

planner . Again with the orange/coral. I know it’s a slight problem. This girl was obsessed with planners in high school and college, but now I just use my phone. I try to start again every January, and I never stick with it anymore.

backpack . First of all, this is made by madewell so you know it’s a good bag. Second of all, how chic would it be for a girl in high school or college.

dress . Probably the most important of all is the first day outfit. I always over did it. Jeans, a super fancy shirt, wedges, and all kinds of jewelry were my style back then. A classic striped dress would keep it simple this year. One that will match my new tennis shoes is perfect.

What were your favorite things to buy when you went back to school? What’d you wear for the day of school this year?

We’re a week away from the end of August! How did this happen? We all say that, but seriously time goes so fast.

When I first got pregnant, I vowed to myself to not wear an empire waist the entire time. That lasted about 24 weeks. Then I traveled to Indiana and the difference in climates and altitudes (or something) made my whole body swell up. I felt like a watermelon and looked like I do now 12 weeks later in Florida. That might be an exaggeration, but it’s how I felt. Miserable and uncomfortable, I went to Old Navy to find a shirt that would look nice for my nephews graduation. This purple empire waist tank is the best I found at the last minute.

Guys, I wear this thing almost every week. It might be my favorite maternity shirt. It’s so versatile and so comfortable. The only downfall is sometimes I look a little more pregnant than I actually am. But I think that comes with the territory of almost being full term and being uncomfortable 27 hours a day.

What are your thoughts on empire waists?

5 pieces 1 outfit: happiness boutique

Hey friends! 5 pieces 1 outfit is a twice monthly series where we feature 5 pieces that bring together 1 perfect outfit. It doesn’t take a lot of time, money, and pieces to create a fashionable look that anyone can create. 5 pieces is all you need to make another outfit killer. First, it’s best to have a theme so you have a place to build from. That can be a color combo or maybe even an event. But most of all you just need a good base piece. This week’s theme is all about staying covered up when you live in Florida, but can’t get zika. The base pieces are my hunter boots and these killer marble earrings.

So zika has finally made it’s way to a legit worry in my mind. Yes, I was taking precautions since I’ve been pregnant since January. However, it just wasn’t a huge worry for me. Neither my husband or I had gone out of the country so what were the changes!?

Well, zika has now been localized in Miami. That’s only 3 hours from us! Bug spray is an all day erry day thing now, and I’m staying as covered as possible. With only 6 weeks to go I might as well take the extra precautions. For some reason, my mind goes to rain boots and trekking through the jungle or swamps when I think of dressing for zika. So this is my go to outfit lately for quick errands. Super comfy maternity leggings, a 3/4 sleeve top, and my hunter boots.

These earrings I got from the happiness boutique. They are a lovely online jewelry shop that I’ve recently fallen in love with. I did pick up these star jackets to wear for my maternity pictures! I can’t wait to show you! They are based in Berlin so the pricing is in euro’s, but they convert it for you. It’s all very easy and the FREE shipping is SO FAST! They also have a great customer rewards program that includes a bi-monthly giveaway. Who doesn’t want free jewelry!? Happiness boutique is giving us a treat today as well! Use the code butchersniche for 10% discount on orders over 19 euros now until September 11th.

the one about 34 weeks

How am I 34 weeks pregnant? There are still times I forget I’m pregnant. Not really, but I do occasionally just feel like a completely normal human. Then boom . . . he moves and I remember it’s getting so close to the day I’ll get to hold my Jack.

How far along? 34 weeks

Maternity clothes?
I have a basketball in my belly so yes, however some pre-pregnancy pants still fit with the belly band.

it’s actually been pretty good the past few weeks. I can sleep on my side curving almost on my belly with the support of my snoogle to be sure I don’t go all the way over. Don’t worry I’m not cutting off the blood supply (which is why you can’t sleep on your belly, that and it’s uncomfortable). But I know those days are almost over as the basketball grows.

Best moment:
Baby daddy and I are getting lots of things checked off the pre-baby list. I like sitting and talking to him about our birth plan and getting things arranged for getting to and from the hospital.

Miss Anything?: This question makes me feel like I’m complaining, and I actually feel extremely blessed to have had a good pregnancy. Laying in bed and feeling him move around is better than any of the bad stuff. I would however like to not feel like I have to pee all day.

He still moves all the time, but the past couple weeks the movement has changed. I can tell he’s grown quite a bit, which he’s supposed to be gaining half a pound a week so that’s good. The movements aren’t squirmy or giant kicks anymore. It’s all big movement and deliberate.

Food cravings: I’m actually really starting to crave meat and protein. First thing every morning is some eggs and bacon please.

Anything making you queasy or sick:
nope, however the heartburn is so bad though.

Gender: boy!

This is another question that makes me feel like I’m complaining, but if I have to . . . restless legs, braxton hicks, lots of pee, all of them

Belly Button in or out?
I think it might flatten out, but I’ll be surprised if it pops all the way.

Wedding rings on or off?
on! the heat does cause my feet and hands to swell a little, but not usually or consistently.

Happy or Moody most of the time:
I’m pretty happy all the time. I get overly emotional about some things, but my mood is much more stable than it ever has been before.

Looking forward to?
 Maternity pictures are next week.
