The nursery is well underway. There is still so much work to do, and my crazy type a self feels like I’m behind schedule already. I have 3.5 months before he’ll be here. I admitted I was crazy. We have a 2 bedroom house right now. Since he’ll be sleeping in a bassinet in our room for the first few months of his life, and we’ll be moving in the first few months of 2017 (he’ll be born in October), we’ve decided to make a combo guest/nursery room.
That room is already a guest room, but I had just thrown all of our random outcasts in there when we moved in – it had no real theme or purpose other than a bed for our guests. But to finish it up was easy. I needed a bed, some decor, and a little table by the bed! I’d loved to have dresser or bigger table for our guests to put their bags on, but that’ll have to be on the list for our new house! All of this was already in the guest room so I just had to bring it all together.
Our entire house and the nursery has lots of blues, greys, greens, and white added in to bring the light so it was easy to feature those colors in this room! I grabbed this duvet insert to give that down comforter feel, but keep it cool since we’re in Florida. I figure I can also easily add a duvet cover to change things up if I ever feel like it. The pillows are from our couch that we don’t use in the living room, but you can find similar ones here. The floral pillow is fabric from Joann’s clearance bin that I made a cover from. Once those things were set, the room was all ready for decoration!
For the wall decor, I made a little gallery wall of old family heirlooms and pictures surrounding this mirror from Target that everyone has. The nightstand I kept it simple. I’ve had the eiffel tower lamp for years – like 15 years. I love it so, so much, and it represents a lifelong dream for me so I’ll never throw it away. You can find similar ones on amazon, but none that are silver.
So there it is! The half guest room of our house! I love the way everything came together and how bright and happy it looks. That is how I want all of our guests to feel when they visit. Anyone else have a guest room/nursery?
It’s time for the Wednesday Showcase! This fun link party is hosted by 7 different bloggers, which means lots of exposure for your posts. Thanks for joining us!
On Monday I talked about how swollen my feet got while I was traveling last month. It made me think that I might want to invest in some easier to ear sandals for the later months of my pregnancy (that will be here before I know it). Luckily for me sliders are back in style. What are sliders? Sandals you slide on. Easy enough, right? And the newer additions bring the style to your outfits as well so you don’t have to sacrifice comfort or style. Here’s my favorite styles for this summer . . .
athletic slider . metallic slider . crossover slider . studded slider . flatform slider
dress . similar non maternity dress . tee . similar sandals . coral bracelet . earrings . rose gold bracalet . sunglasses
I pride myself on getting through the airport quickly and efficiently. Traveling is just another opportunity for me to show off my organization and time management skills. Before the newer airlines started giving incentives for checking luggage, I NEVER paid to check. Even for our 10 day honeymoon in another country. I HATE TSA. So I get through there as quick as possible and run away. The only reason I get to the airport more than an hour and a half before my flight is if it’s a busy season, and the lines will be long. I was determined this past month that just because I was pregnant the way I handle traveling would not change. I’m happy to report they did not for the most part. I flew out at 6:55 got to the airport at 5:40 and was at my gate with dinner at 6:15.
But let’s talk about how pregnancy did affect my travels. Tropical Storm Collin was hanging out in Florida on my way home, and while he might not have done much on land (at least where I live), he was a force to be reckoned with in the sky. I know why they make you wear your seat belt, and why they give you bags to throw up in now. My hands and feet which have handled pregnancy so well, almost doubled in size – probably an exaggeration- but I could feel the skin stretching on my feet so it feels accurate.
I did not wear this outfit while traveling this go round, but I would highly recommend it. It’s super comfortable, and will stretch with your growing belly. Bonus, the shirt lets everyone know why your row stinks just a little more than the others. Just pick some better shoes that don’t squeeze your ankles.
I was in Indiana- where I’m from – for almost 2 weeks. I’m not interested in racing, but the husband is so I have an appreciation. And the city just comes alive at the end of May every year – some see it as the worst time of year. But for me it’s always been the start of summer with a HUGE event that doesn’t make Indiana look like idiots. Unless you’re in the snake pit . . . Here’s the 5 best things that happened.
1.corn. I got to eat some Indiana corn.
2. We celebrated my shower – which I talked about Monday – and we also celebrated my best friends baby boy who comes about 2 weeks before ours. I’m so glad I got to be there and celebrate with her.
3. One of my nephews and his girlfriend graduated from high school! Just super proud 🙂
4. I got to see this girl 🙂 She’s got big things coming in her life and I’m so excited for her!
5. This happened after the trip, but it counts. We had another ultrasound to see our baby boy Tuesday. I immediately regretted this decision when I didn’t get home until midnight from the airport and then had to be at the doctor with a full bladder 8 hours later. But I changed my mind pretty quickly 🙂 If he could just be here already so I can put him in the loafers I bought him.
How far along? 24 weeks
Maternity clothes? loving old navy maternity tanks and splendid maternity dresses
Sleep: ugh . . .
Best moment: Daddy is starting to be able to feel him on the outside, and our shower last weekend.
Miss Anything? sleep and sushi
Movement: yea, there’s a lot of that. especially between 8-10 am and 3-7 pm
Food cravings: Matt Stonie and I have the same idea
Anything making you queasy or sick: I had syrup for the first time since I’ve been pregnant, and I was so nauseous afterward. Now syrup sounds gross to me.
Symptoms: I have heard your skin becomes very sensitive to the sun so living in Florida I took extra precautions. Not enough apparently because I am the girl who lives in Florida, but came to Indiana and fried my shoulders.
Belly Button in or out? still in, but I can flip it inside out.
Wedding rings on or off? on most of the time. But traveling to the higher altitude of Indiana, and long travel days were rough on the ankles and the hands.
Happy or Moody most of the time: happy, happy!
Looking forward to? June is a relatively normal month, and July starts the 3rd trimester (busy, busy). So I plan on taking advantage and resting a lot this month.
It’s link party time! Thanks for joining us for the Wednesday Showcase. We can’t wait to see what you share with us this week.
About two months ago I listed some of the natural ways I had researched to prevent and heal pregnancy acne. You can find that post here. Since then I’ve tried 1 of those ways, and I wanted to share my results! When I searched for pregnancy acne, I couldn’t find much that helped. My goal here is to help future pregnant ladies find a way that might work for them. Having acne doesn’t mean a thing for our beauty, but it’s still frustrating, right ladies?! Dealing with it during pregnancy, is just one more thing we shouldn’t have to deal with.
The first of the ways I decided to try you can find here. I’m still using my bee sting scrub about twice a week, and love it as a deep exfoliater. This month I added a lemon juice toner. Here’s how I made mine . . .
2 tablspoons apple cider vinegar
1/3 cup water
1/2 cup lemon juice
In a small bottler, combine acv, water and a lemon juice. Shake well and spray or soak onto a cotton pad and gently wipe down your face. Focus on areas where acne or large pores are present.
My face has almost completely cleared up now that I’ve added this. I’m extremely happy with it and love the feeling of my skin after using my toner. Full disclosure I did have a facial during the month that I added this in, but I had already noticed a difference. It’s been a few weeks since my facial and my skin isn’t returning back to it’s volcanic ways. Next month I’m going to share my updated ‘maternity’ skin care routine and picture of my face before and after!
Have you ever made your own toner?
Happy Monday friends! Today I’m returning from my home state of Indiana to our home in Florida. If you want to see a picture of what it looks like for a pregnant lady in a tight dress with swollen lower 3/4 of her body to waddle around the airport (and lug her bags by herself) . . . be sure and visit my Instagram. It’ll be a good time.
While I was in Indiana my best friend Rachel hosted a Bow ties and Brunch Baby Shower for me. I was so wrapped up in everything I forgot to take pictures of the food and decor! But I still loved my outfit, and the day was glorious so I wanted to share some pictures and details.
Rachel threw a little garden party for me! I didn’t want tons of blue so there were blue and white lanterns everywhere, green table clothes with garden chairs, yellow daisies, and bow-ties all over the backyard! We feasted on pancakes, breakfast casserole, bacon, sausage, orange juice, and muffins! It was more than I imagined it would be. Thank you so much to everyone who came and spoiled baby Jack!

Time for the months first installment of 5 pieces 1 outfit. The series where I show how easy it is to make a fashionable outfit with only 5 pieces proving you don’t need tons of pieces or tons of money to pull yourself together. It is my favorite series as I tell you every time it’s featured. But if I didn’t tell you every time would you believe me!?!
This week I decided to focus on workout clothes. When you think of workout clothes you don’t necessarily think fashion, and you might actually think it’s probably a bit of a stretch to get 5 pieces out of it. Well even though leisure wear and workout clothes are having a big moment in the fashion world – you’d still be right. However, if you’re like me, you like to wear your workout clothes around for the day as well as to the gym so having them be fashionable is very helpful. You even occasionally might wear them as part of another outfit.
shoes . tank . leggings . tank . headband
I’m most excited for these compression pants. Why? Because compression pants feel the best when your legs are hitting pavement and these ones actually have a little style to them. I can’t wait until I’m not pregnant so I can buy me some. What are you favorite workout clothes?
