the one where we’re on a break.

Well, hey there. I am still here. I ended up taking a little break from the bliggity blog, and it was just what I needed. I didn’t even vlog yesterday with my home girl Faith. That’s how serious this break was.

If you’re a regular reader you know I’m in this season of redesigning my life, and that has transferred into redesigning the blog. I’ve set the date for everything new to go live on June 1st, and it just seems my mind, heart, and body are telling me to take a break until then. The main reason behind the changes is I want to have quality surrounding me. This blog started as a fun hobby for a creative outlet, so as long as it was ‘good enough’ then it was good enough. But that’s not good enough for me anymore . . . haha!

Now, I’m not saying that I’m going to turn this into a full time business. I believe that if you go into blogging saying you want it to be your job . . . then you’re most likely going to fail . . . If that’s what you’re doing then please don’t take this as me being down on you or saying you’re going to fail. But I’ve seen it happen a lot, and I know that it takes a lot of time to build your blog to a job. You need to have a reason behind your blog; a want to not a need to. You need to want to do this for some reason not a need to do it for money.

BUT I do want this blog to represent me and my online creative presence. It needs to be quality . . . it’s not just a hobby anymore. So I’m saving that quality content for you guys when everything behind the blog is the quality I want it to be.

Basically, I need a recharge to come back and do all the amazing online creative things I’m dreaming of in this redesign. Plus, that lovely friend I was talking about earlier, Faith, will be here next week, and I want to spend quality time with her. I get to see my family in a couple weeks, and I want to spend quality time with them.

I finally got to meet this girl (her name is Liz) in real life, and I want to spend more quality time with her. We joined a church and I’m getting some good quality newbie stuff in. All while prepping for this relaunch.

Quality . . . that’s the design aspect I’m focusing on now in life. And I hope you’ll all join me again on this adventure when I return in 2 weeks.

the one with May 2015 goals

goals! I just love ’em . . .

1. workout 3-4 times a week. Iron Man and I just joined a gym so I’m excited to get back into it. I haven’t worked out consistently in a long . . . long . . . time. – We made it 3 days a week all but 1 week – and we were both sick that week!

2. finish etsy shop – I’ve actually got the launch scheduled. So coming soon – it’s finished just have to launch it and the date I originally scheduled is still on.

3. work with Scott to find a church. – self explanatory. March was a crazy month. We moved and traveled a lot on the weekends. We did get to start the search near the end of the month, but it’s time to really get into it. I know it’s a big decision, and we will take our time. But I’m ready to have a consistent place in our lives that isn’t the house. – I think we’ve found it 🙂

4. get back into crafts. – I haven’t done a craft or built something in a long while. And the biggest reason is because there’s nothing for me to do that has a purpose. Ya know what I’m saying? But I need to figure that out so I can get my hands creating again! – gosh this was just what I needed! I got a few crafts done and it just felt soo good! So many !! are needed.

5. learn to clean Scott’s work pants myself. – At his old position, he could wear jeans every day because he didn’t actually see customers. Now he wears suits every day. The dry cleaners was not a place I visited before this. But after doing a little research I just don’t want to spend the money on something I can do myself. – I did it! and I’ve learned to iron them really well! Iron Man even says they’re worthy of wearing outside the house. I still hate ironing tho . . .

So here’s May 2015 goals. . .

1. the dentist – I don’t hate the dentist. I’m not scared of the dentist. I just hate going.

2. read 2 books – I have this huge pile of books people have given me or I’ve won. I really want to read all of them, but I just leave them sitting on my nightstand and read some non fiction. This month that will change.

3. figure out my rest schedule. – Since I’m home all day I struggle with just sitting. I don’t want to be lazy so I don’t sit, but then I get done with everything so much quicker because I’m rushing around to not sit. So I end up sitting because there’s only so much on can do, but then I feel lazy. The next day I’ll decide to allow myself some time to sit, and then magically it’s time for Scott to get off work and I’ve watched an entire season of television. So I need to find that happy medium and for me it’s a schedule until I find it.

4. bachelorette party plans – my best friend is getting married!! We’re 6 months away so it’s time to make reservations. That may sound like a lot of time, but I’d like to throw her a bridal luncheon the day before the wedding too. So I’ve got two parties to plan that will take place 5 days from each other both the week before a big wedding . . . and I’m 1200 miles away. I know the area well, I know her well . . . but I need to be ahead of the game so nothing gets missed.

5. redesign and relaunch blog to coincide with etsy shop – more on this next week 🙂

what are your goals for may?

the one about the green floral dress

I always get so many comments on my green floral dress from my winter capsule. It’s a gorgeous dress, and I love it so. It has a print similar to a rifle paper co print so I see why people love it. But. unfortunately, it’s over a year old and no longer available.

Funny story . . . It is actually featured in my favorite episode of ‘The Walking Dead’.  It’s on a zombie in the episode ‘Still’ from Season 4. Every time I watch that episode (which is weekly – no shame in my daryl game) I see my dress and I think ‘Damn zombie girl, you got good taste’.

I watch a Leonardo DiCaprio movie once a week also. It’s called loyalty.

Back to the dress . . . since it’s no longer available for purchase I scoured the internets and found 3 more green floral dresses that are somewhat similar for you to choose from. And I thought I’d show you how I would wear these gorgeous dresses.

This gorgeous dress is from Target. Seeing that I’m a little on the curvy side. I need something that will define my waist so I don’t look like a pillow case. So I’d belt this bad boy. To keep things casual I’d pair some nice gladiator sandals with it. I also would wear this to a wedding with a simple nude, heeled sandal and a gold belt.

halter shift dress                                                                                                                                                                                  Belt in Cognac  Gladiator Sandals

This one is the most similar to my dress in shape and form. So here’s how I like to keep it simple.  Just a fun necklace and simple shoes.

Chiffon Floral 3/4 sleeve dress
Teardrop Statement Necklace
High Heel Ankle Strap Sandal

And, finally, this is how I’d wear a green floral dress to work. I’m a firm believer that leopard is a print that can be mixed with any other print. And that is all I have to say about that.

Elbow Sleeve Floral Dress
flirty blazer

How would you wear a green floral dress? I’d love to hear!

the one with a case of the Monday’s

similar dress – original Target no longer available in color.
t shirt
leopard flats

The thing about Monday’s . . . is that everybody thinks they suck. Everywhere you hear people talk about a case of the Monday’s, don’t talk to me until I’ve had my coffee, and all that.

As a married gal, the weekends where he gets to wake up and lay there with me for a second are amazing. That stops on Monday’s which makes it so hard to wake up. So I get it. I even give myself breaks on Monday’s – I usually don’t work out, it’s the day I let myself stay in pj’s or work out clothes all day, meals are easy, etc.

But I’ve learned something in my 8 weeks of trophy wifedom*. Monday’s set the tone for the whole week. I don’t want my weeks to be filled of a case of the Monday’s or an attitude of don’t talk to me. I don’t want to spend my entire week in pajamas barely getting the necessary things done.

So today I’m starting something new! Monday’s are gonna be the best days of the week. Productive, healthy, happy, full of Grace, with lots of coffee, and most likely in work out clothes.

*I am not nor do I consider myself a trophy wife. I do however and am very proud of the fact that I have a very dry sense of humor.
