the with a DIY beauty blender cleaner

I finally jumped on the beauty blender train a few months ago – about a year late. It was a total game changer. My makeup goes on smoother, blends better, and I even notice it stays on longer.

But using it daily . . . the thing get quite nasty. And it’s not cheap like some other sponges. There is a cleaner for it already, but I like to go the natural route . . . it’s usually better for your skin, natural (duh), and cheaper.

So I came up with my own diy beauty blender cleaner . . . it’s very similar to the diy brush cleaner I use as well. Here what you need  . . .

a dollup of coconut oil

a dollup of dish soap or baby shampoo

enough water to make it it sudsy

combine your coconut oil and baby shampoo together well. Then add some water to make it sudsy – that’s such a cool word. then dunk your sponge in the mixture and let it soak in for a minute or two.

then it’s just a matter of squishing and squeezing the gunk and makeup out. You might need to add some more soap if yours is as dirty as mine. The longest this will take you is about 5 minutes. Mine was filthy and I had a 1 year nephew at my feet and that’s how long it took me. Plus squishing and squeezing the gunk out is fun.

How do you clean your beauty blender – do you go au natural or buy it?

the one with a valentine’s day printable

The only thing I find that’s different about valentines day as a married lady is there’s not really as much pressure. Iron Man believe it or not is a typical man – so Valentines day is not his thing. He loves me . . . he loves being married . . . I know all of these things without asking him because he’s a man of action not many words. So buying me jewelry, fancy chocolates, teddy bears, and a corny card is not his style. Thankfully it’s not mine either. Sure it’s sweet the rare time it happens, and I always love getting flowers sent to me at work. But it’s not him, it’s not really me, and so it’s not us.

When we were dating, we tried to make a big deal out of valentines day. One year I made a fancy dinner and we ate on my grandmother’s china. He bought me a beautiful bracalet that I love, but rarely wear and I got him some clothes that he wears all the time because he knows they’re my favorite. The next year we did the expensive gift thing again and went to a fancy restaurant. Then last year we got smart . . . we just went to our favorite restaurant and made fun baskets for each other. Each basket was filled with things we knew the other person loved.

We each had made each other a little coupon book and it ended up beign a challenge to see who could keep theirs the longest I still have 1 and he still has 2, who cuold use one of their coupons to get out of the other’s coupon for example, he used his coupon to pick date night movie and I used mine to pick what we do on date night saying we’d stay in. So he picked the movie and I fell asleep early 😉

So this year he gets another coupon book (he already knows this), and hopefully I do too! Of course, his to me are just written on torn sheets of notebook paper and mine to him are fancy schamncy. This year I went all out and made up a quick and cute little printable to use for each coupon! I wanted to share that all with you so hopefully you can enjoy a sweet night out with your man.

valentines day coupon

I print mine at my local drugstore on 4×6 picture prints then use a permanent marker to fill in my details, but you can always print them at home too! Feel free to get weird with it. Make those terms and conditions hard rules for him to follow. If you’re married get a little (or a lot) sexy with it too 😉 What are your plans for valentines day?

Every week the husband and I go out for a weekly date night. Just dinner at our favorite sushi place and then a movie, an art show, some games, or just whatever we want. But Valentines day, while we don’t go all out, it’s a little more special.

So dinner will be at a fancier restaurant and we’ll see a romantic movie . . . so much more special, Ha! So a lbd was the perfect choice . . . especially since I’m in the middle of a capsule wardrobe and can’t buy anything new.

Little Black Dresses are perfect for a capsule wardrobe I’ve discovered recently. So many accessories. sparkles, jewels, bows, stilettos . . . lots of layering. I’m in heaven.

Also, I know red and pink are valentines day colors, but you know of my love for purple. I couldn’t help it . . . especially when I found this wonderful belt on Amazon. It perfectly matches my recently purchased earrings so I couldn’t pass them up. Turns out having a monthly capsule doesn’t stop the purchasing of things to match my lbd.

What’s your favorite way to wear an lbd?

the one with February’s goals

February will without a doubt be a stressful month. If you’re a regular reader (I love you) then you know I’ve alluded to some big changes happening to me and Iron Man. I haven’t been able to tell you about them because . . . well, they just can’t be on the web for all to read until I tell one more person. Thankfully, it’s all finally happening in February and March so I will tell you all about it in just a couple days. And it all makes me want to go to the beach real bad . . .

February is going to be incredibly busy, exciting, and expensive. Ha! and I can’t wait. I don’t have any blogging goals because my only blogging goal is to stay afloat and keep up with my normal schedule during all of this. I’m a planner and a multitasker so as long as I stay on top of things I will be able to. Here’s 5 of february’s goals  . . .

Personal goals ::

  1. Sell/donate all old prom/bridesmaid and maybe even my wedding dress.
  2. Dining room table
  3. Purge all closets and cabinets – office, guest room, kitchen, bathroom, laundry, and master
  4. Pull out all dead landscaping – try to make something appealing of it
  5. Taxes filed? – may have to put off until March because of things outside of my control
  6. work it out to still be able to see Nina for her birthday 😉

What are  your goals for February?

the one with a fit and flare remix

In my fall capsule the most worn item was my red fit and flare dress from Target. Unfortunately, they don’t have it anymore, but they have many more that are similar!

For my curvy figure, the fit and flare is the perfect fit for a fun and flirty dress. It fits where it needs to, and flares where the bumps need to be hidden. If you don’t have curves, the flare will make it appear like you do and show off that awesome figure you have on top! So it’s perfect for so many different body types, and it’s so versatile! There are so many different ways to wear to wear a fit and flare dress.

Of course, the easiest way is just like above –  By itself with some patterned flats and simple earrings. I would wear this on a girls night dinner, shopping with mom, to church – just to name a few. But when you add pieces and layer on top of that amazing base you get several more stellar outfits. Here’s just 3 of the ways I like to wear it . . .

To work :: tights, simple heels, and a belted cardigan. Perfect for the days you’re running late and simple for the days you’re right on time.

Party time :: a slim cut blazer, flashy heels, and some dangly earrings. Perfect for a night out on the town or a fancy dinner.

Boho chic :: I think this one is my favorite. A kimono and my favorite boots. Comfy, chic, and fabulous.

Do you have any fit and flare dresses – what are your favorite ways to wear it?

Our house is basically finished (except for those bathroom remodels I dream of) so I must find my new project to keep me occupied. Here’s 10 awesome things I’m finding inspiration from on pinterest.

1. Our window seat in the kitchen would look super pretty like this, don’t ya think?!

2. I must have a purple chair somewhere!!! I MUST! the husband will not be ok about this ha!

3. The vaulted ceilings in our house now need beams to go with  . . . need is the appropriate word.

4. We will need to landscape once the snow goes away . . . I like how simple this is.

found here

5. These are right up my alley! Now where to put one.

 6. while we’re on a bee theme i’ll take one of these too . . .  Also, this is saved on my computer as bee knockers which makes me giggle because I have the mind of an adolescent boy.

 7. The wood circles and the dark mantel . . . that would definitely take our fireplace up a notch. I’m not sure the wood circles would work with the cut of our fireplace though.

8. You know I’m a true believer that organization can be stylish too. and spice organization is something I need in my life. real bad.
9. this is most definitely happening in the spring.
10. a mudroom/organization area in the garage!! i don’t know why I haven’t done this already!
