the one about zenwise probiotics and my daily routine

I haven’t shared my daily skin care routine in a while. and it’s changed pretty drastically since the last time I did so. 2 key items in fact are the cause . . . I love reading these posts on other blogs so I can get new ideas of things to try – I hope you guys get some of those things from reading mine 🙂

My face and I have a love hate relationship in the past 2 years. I’m almost 30 you guys and my face and my hormones has realized it before my brain has. SO basically what I’m saying I have a new found acne problem and I don’t act my age so everyone thinks i’m early twenties, but I’m almost not in my twenties anymore. Holy rambling.

Here’s how I try to combat my acne so I look my age . . . and take general care of my face and body  . . .

face2015

step 1 – take that make up off! :: I use ponds face wipes to remove all my make up and cleanse my face. I love these – I feel so cleansed afterward – not too dry – and I haven’t found a mascara they can’t handle.

step 2 – acne fighting :: if I have something that has already come up and needs handled I put a little dab of this to burn it off. Not really – that’s not what it does nor what it feels like, but it’s what i imagine in my head. because i hate acne so it can burn . . . if i’m being honest – and I always am – I can’t decide if I like this better than mary kay’s acne cream. I used that for years and loved it. my acne problem started soon after I stopped. bu there are other factors that i think caused it.

step 3 – extra cleanse/acne fighting/ moisturizing :: coconut oil does it all. so I cover my face in a light coat of melted coconut oil. Some people use this as a cleanser, and if I get too much on I do splash some water to take it off. My acne is in half since I started using coconut oil and my not very dry face usually doesn’t need any more moisturizer.

step 4 – moisture :: My face doesn’t usually need more moisture, but if it does I use clinique dramtically different moisturizer . And on my body I use the best lotion I’ve ever found – and I’ve been looking for a long time. I use Trader Joe’s Midsummer Night right before bed every night all over my body.

step 5 – Vitamins. Or as I like to call them ‘horse pills’. When I take them in the morning I’m extremely nauseous on my drive to work. When I take them before bed,  . . . energy! And when I take them at lunch time . . . i never remember to take them at lunch. I started using gummy vitamins and even continued to take Flintstones as an adult. Eventually I stopped altogether, but that made one too many gestational problems.

A2U9qJ0TV2NERKHT2BnY_Front_2

Then I found these bad boys. Zenwise Probiotics are the perfect little vitamin to help with all my gestational issues. And bonus – see how I said little up there – they. are. not. horse pills. Thank you very much.

Not only do they help with my gestational issues – which causes acne as we all should know, but they have really been helping my energy. and um my mood – it is usually very neutral and stays very even keels . . . it’s the total opposite but not so much when I take my zenwise probiotics!

There you have it my favorite products to use for skin care right now. What’s on your list? Have you ever tried Zenwise probiotic’s before?

*I was given a free sample of Zenwise Probiotics for this post, but received no other compensation. All opinions are 100% my own*

the one about stuffed peppers

About 14 months ago my husband and I started an 80/20 Paleo lifestyle. I say lifestyle because I hate the word diet . . . Basically 80% of the time we eat Paleo (except light diary additions) and 20% of the time we don’t.

I haven’t posted any new recipes or any updates in awhile so today you get a real treat. Seriously you should make it because it’s so good. . .

IMG_5357

My mom used to make stuffed peppers all the time, and I hated them. It was one of those things I refused to eat when she made it. I would rather go hungry than eat stuffed peppers or fried green tomatoes or pork chops . . .

I now eat pork chops and  stuffed peppers . . . turns out fried green tomatoes really are gross.

IMG_5358

If you happen to not want to eat paleo . . . you should add more cheese or even rice to the mixture. If you don’t want to add the cheese and prove you’re a stronger person than me . . . god be with you  . . . you stuffed peppers will turn out just fine.

the one with blanket scarf remix

The high in the Hoosier state today is 9 degrees . . . and it feels like -12 with the wind speeds. I’m sure most of you are in the same boat some even worse . . . and if it’s better where you live please do not tell me . . . the wildabeast known as cranky Bex night come out.

Thankfully blanket scarves are a dime a dozen as far as style is concerned this season. Sitting in my super cold window filled office becomes just a little more bearable when I can wear a blanket over my usual jeans and polo (retail car sales, guys! it’s a joy). But sometimes I like a little change up so here’s a blanket scarf remix. . .

1. poncho . . .

asponcho

how to :: fold your scarf into a rectangle. and throw it over your shoulders. take the right side and tuck it over your left shoulder. repeat with the left side. then tuck and style until it looks best.

2. cardigan/vest . . .

ascaridgan

how to :: fold your scarf into a triangle. and throw it over your shoulders. boom. you can even belt it for bonus points.

3. basic . . .

asinfinity

how to :: bunch your scarf up long ways. take one edge and place it right on your collar bone with most of the scarf hanging on the other side. then loop the long side around your neck until it’s all up. tuck the end under the loop for it to stay.

What are your favorite ways to wear your blanket scarf?

the one with the master bedroom reveal

It’s hopefully obvious to everyone my love of the color purple. It’s a deep love that knows no bounds . . . and my husband caught on very quicly in our 4 years together. So when we had to start sharing a bedroom ( I say that like it’s a bad thing) he quickly made a ‘deal’ that the only room in the house that we could have purple in was the bedroom. BUT I could put as much purple in there as I pleased.

And now you’re expecting this master bedroom reveal to be a purple explosion . . . sorry to disappoint you. or maybe I’m the only one who thinks there is a nice balance . . .

I actually lost the before pictures of the bedroom except for the one below. It had the lovely carpet, poop brown walls, and 2 bright blue walls. – which look grey for some reason in the picture. I almost left it the way it was . . . photo 5 (8)

Sometimes I worry that I’m too sarcastic! I of course did not leave it the way it was. The room is brighter, the baseboards don’ have paint splatter on them anymore, and there’s purple. It’s the perfect oasis for me . . . with some added romance for when the husband ventures in.

FullSizeRender (5) FullSizeRender (7) FullSizeRender (6) FullSizeRender (4) FullSizeRender (3) FullSizeRender (2) FullSizeRender (1) FullSizeRender

There she is our lovely bedroom! As per usual here’s a list of what’s left to do in this room  . . .

– add extra support to bedframe

-touch up white on baseboards

-add wood top to night stands

– eventually invest in marriage dressers. I love our solid wood dressers now. But I would love some better quality/could pass down to my kids dressers eventually. I’m torn honestly so it’s not likely to happen soon, but it’s on the list.

<more pictures>

My favorite part of the room . . . the view right when you walk in the door 🙂 the cord we (he while I giggled) braided, our wedding date, purple, my favorite curtains ever, and that handsome devil. just look at him he’s so handsome

stop looking at my husband. 😉

the one with an entire outfit from Amazon

 leggings . tunic . scarf . ankle boots . clutch . watch

I’m a little obsessed with Amazon. I almost always check Amazon prices before I buy anything –even some groceries. But clothes . . . nope, never. Didn’t even think about it . . .

I shop on line consistently for clothes, but they are big name stores that I’m familiar with and know my size. Amazon wasn’t like that for me so I was always too nervous to try . . . Well I finally gave in with these leggings.

Confession . . . Sometimes I have to wear leggings backwards to get them to cover my booty comfortably. Even ones that are a size too big. They just have no curve to them in the behind . . . unlike myself who has lots of curves. These leggings I can wear correctly.

Side note . . . I felt as if it might come across as tho I was bragging there talking about all my curves. And while I’m not at all – it’s just a statement of truth – it makes me excited that the world is changing to where I feel that way when talking about how not skinny I am rather than ashamed.

Back to the outfit . . . Everything I have on is from amazon even the purse! So it turns out buying clothes on amazon isn’t so bad after all!

Have you ever purchased clothing or accessories on amazon? What did you think?

Imagine going out to run some errands with your hottie of a husband, you realize you have on a wonderful outfit, you did not cheat on your capsule wardrobe in this outfit, you have on your fairly new grey jeans which haven’t been featured on le blog yet, and you’re in a lovely area of town . . . you MUST take blog pictures. And right in the middle of your photo shoot – which has you standing in the middle of the street so the cool wood on that cool barn can be featured – it starts to snow. I needed to tell you this fairy tale like story so you knew that was snow not dandruff in my hair. Such is the life of a  blogger . . .
I can’t get enough of jeans. I’m a casual, jeans and tshirt girl and always will be. Sometimes it’s fun to get dressed up, but it’s always fun to wear jeans. It truly never gets boring to me . . . you can wear acid wash if you’re weird, dark denim if you’re classy, black if you’re sporty, and grey jeans if you’re chic like me.
At least I think I’m chic – even when it starts to snow right in the middle of blog pictures.
Just an extra little side note . . . ok a big and exciting one . . . My blogging AND real life is celebrating her 5th blogiversary this week and she’s rebranding that blog of hers to show off the real girl inside! To celebrate she and I and some of our other friends have joined together to give you this . . .

the one with the living room reveal

If you will remember all the way back to August, we had just bought a new house. Before the holidaze we were able to  finish up the office results, share the kitchen reveal, add some pizzaz to the dining room, and added some new floors. Although I didn’t mention them at the time, the other rooms of the house were getting along just fine, too. Today I have the living room reveal for you . . . let’s start with the before

photo 1 (7)

photo 2 (7)

photo 3 (6)

photo 5 (4)Our living room is so perfect for entertaining with it’s vaulted ceilings and open layout. I love that it is blocked off from the kitchen and bedrooms, but still open and inviting for when we entertain.

diybattenboardlivingroom5

The couch of course is the focal point of the room so I wanted something that could hold a lot of people, be super comfortable, and still have at least some style to it. I found that in this couch, thankfully.

livingroom2 livingroom3

livingroom6

When we moved in, we painted, added the batten board, changed the floors from carpet to laminate, and painted the fireplace. What’s left to do is . . .

– bigger/darker rug

– add wall hooks/coat hangers to foyer

– refinish dining room table

– make new end tables

– get new frame for John Lennon art piece

– refinish lawyer’s cabinet to work as buffet on the dining room side wall.

Do you have any rooms finished or projects on the horizon?

the one with winter capsule 2015

The first Monday of January is always the official start of the new year for me. So that day is today! I spent last week living it up, celebrating the new year, and showing one of the best gals around Indianapolis. In my free time I got prepared for and dreamed of 2015.

One of the things I dreamed of was my winter capsule wardrobe. I learned a lot from my Fall Capsule and I prepared a clear vision of what I want my fashion to evolve to for 2015. Here’s the details . . .

Colors – I like color a lot. I think neutrals wash me out. I’d like to incorporate them a little more because it’s very trendy, but every time I do I’m disappointed in how I look. So this winter capsule is full of jewel tones.

Layers – I tried to incorporate lots of basic pieces that can be layered and then layered again. I think that’s going to be a big key for a winter capsule is lots of layering – keeping warm and lots of options.

Numbers – I only included 25 pieces – some of them I haven’t settled on just yet or have ordered and they aren’t in yet so I don’t want to definitely include them until I see how they fit. I only included 25 because in my fall capsule there were about 8 shirts I didn’t wear at all – and I had a few more ideas only including the pieces I did wear.

Purge/buy – The above paragraph made me really go through and purge the ole closet. I had gotten rid of some fall/winter pieces that I didn’t want to include in last capsule, but I did hang on to some that weren’t included – mostly for sentimental reasons or knowing I’d want to include it in the winter. I got over it. I finally saw how little I need some things and so a big purge is finally happening. This time around I’m very limited on what I can buy. I need a new/better structured black blazer, and I want to add a new sweater. I’m also going to allow myself 3 splurge pieces for when I find stuff I really want, but aren’t going to fit in the capsule. I might decide on a new winter coat when prices start to go down – I love my coat now but I’ve had it for 2 years so I feel a change coming for next year.

Now let’s get to what I’m including . . . capsulewinter2015bottoms capsulewinter2015dresses capsulewinter2015jackets capsulewinter2015shoes capsulewinter2015tops   1.black leggings 2.grey jeans 3.skinny jeans 4.similar red fit and flare dress 5.black dress 6.long sleeve t’s 7.purple t 8.white button up 9. white sweater 10.grey striped sweater stitch fix 11. ??? 12.long sleeve t’s 13.similar wine blouse 14. white tunic 15. ??? 16. skater skirt 17.grey skirt – old navy last season 18. leopard print flats 19. black heels 20. cognac booties 21.  cognac boots 22. black boots 23. grey cardigan 24. black blazer – thrifted 25. white blazer

Are you doing a winter capsule? I’d love to see it and hear how you plan to work it?
