, but God . . . .

Just a few days ago before Influence, I sat with a friend and she asked if I thought the blog would change any after the conference. I joked that it would probably be better, but not different. I was fully expecting to come out of this weekend with new friends, rejuvenated, motivated, and ready to work my blog. Everything would be the same except better. But God . . .

influence

but God gave me the best husband who saw the need for me to go connect with other women. he surprised me with an early Christmas present – a ticket

but God gave me Faith

but God had 15 girls from the peony project accept my dinner invitation. that means a lot for introverts like me.

but God put me there on Friday evening when lara casey had me give words to and admit my fears

but God was there the next morning more than I’ve ever felt him before, and I heard him through the words of Jess Connolly

but God helped me finally realize that I am worthy

but God helped me finally realize that he does love me, a sinner – he loves no matter what

but God introduced me to Hayley so I can see an Indiana girl doin’ big things..

but God – you did so many other things for me this weekend. You know my heart so you all of the things.

So yes, I do have new, amazing friends. I am rejuvenated, motivated, and ready to work on my blog. And no the content won’t change , but God will be much more present in my relationships, my life, my blog . . .

a GiGi baby bag giveaway

I know last week was filled with giveaways to celebrate fall week, but I can’t help but add another one today. I see giveaways as a way to thank my readers and connect with other bloggers with an added benefit of growing my followers not the other way around. BUT I know sometimes there are too many . . . I promise to get that under control

. . . But today I’m so excited to raffle off a GiGi New York baby bag, beloved by fashion bloggers, bloggers, and fashionistas alike. And I get to do with it some of my fave girls. Happy Monday. Am I right?

the one when bex realized she forgot to iron her shirt

Knowing that I would have a busy weekend, I scheduled this post last week so I could just come in fresh on Monday morning and get restarted. But it doesn’t feel like enough. This weekend was life changing for me so know that, that post is coming tomorrow. And if you’ve ever thought of going to Influence, but haven’t taken the plunge please come back and hear what I have to say.

I love to wear maxi dresses. They’re so easy to just throw on, accessorize, and go on out the door. With the right accessories you look put together, stylish, and comfortable. What more is there to an outfit?

maxi1

I wanted to do something more fun than just put a cardigan over my summer maxi’s so I paired my chambray pop over with one of my go-to maxi dresses. I love the look. I also didn’t have time to iron the pockets . . .

friday love – influence conference style

Today and tomorrow I am hanging out in downtown naptown (Indianapolis) with lots of other lady creative minds at the influence conference. Saying I’m excited for this is such an understatement. It’s hard to control my excitement and not just be that girl. So I’m letting some of my excitement spill over here for 5 things friday on the blog so that I hopefully keep it under control the next 2 days.

1. I finally get to meet my friend Faith, and we’re going to start coming up with ideas for a hoosier blogger monthly meetup!

2. tonight the lovely ladies of the peony project who are attending are all getting together for dinner. this group of people warm my soul on a daily basis and give me so much encouragement. and I finally get to hug some of them.

3. I get to carry this bag around all weekend. canvas, cognac leather, monogram . . . heaven

4. I get to hear these guys speak . . . some of them I have been following their blogs/shops since before I even started here at my little niche.

5. I’m going to come home so motivated, but also ready for a lazy sunday evening with my hubs. and then get back into sort of a routine on Monday after 6 weeks of no routine.

what are you excited for this weekend? are you going to influence? come find me!

the one with a new fall wreath

Welcome back for another addition of fall week! Today I’m going to give you the quick run down of how I made the wreath on our beautiful, happy, blue front door! (which looks incredibly lighter than usual)

 wreath2 (2)

It was super easy and quick, and I love how the darker blues, oranges, and abuergine accent the door to make it scream FALL!

I simple took a pool noodles and bent it into a circle -using duct tape to keep the ends together. Then I covered everything with the burlap ribbon from this etsy shop and held that in place with small dabs of hot glue.

I finished everything up with some fake flowers and berries from the dollar tree. For those, I cut the stems off, stuck the top of the back into the Styrofoam, and hot glued around the edges.

there you have it my easy, peasy, blue, orange, and aubergine fall wreath! What’s your favorite thing to decorate for fall with?

I’ve teamed up with some other beautiful bloggers to host a fall themed week, and bring our wonderful readers a week full of all things fall. Every day we’ll be linking up our posts – which we welcome you to do below also!

It may seem weird that I’m hosting fall week since I’ve said before and (I still believe it) . . . fall and all things fall related are a little overrated . . . HOWEVER! it does mean layering which is awesome, bold cranberry lips which I can’t get enough of, and that the holiday’s are right around the corner which IS MY VERY FAVORITE!

To get things started I wanted to share one of the simplest, most comfortable fall outfits in my wardrobe. I’ve worn this scarf on the blog before, but I love it so much and we all know how versatile scarves are 🙂

high five for friday about christmas even though it’s september.

This week has been soo good . . . the fall boots and my favorite leather jacket came out of the closet, and I got parts of the house organized and even decorated . . . and the best part we officially move out of our apartment today and tomorrow.

photo 3 (36)

Let’s start the pictures from this week off right with the most adorable. This is the conversation we had prior to this picture :  Bex: let’s take a picture and send it to mama at work Amauri: here Me’sean put your arm like me Me’sean: that’s cheesy Amauri A: cheesy pictures make good Christmas presents. M: did aunti beki tell you that A: of course.

those exact words didn’t come out of my mouth, but she must learn off of what she sees. and this is going to be the best Christmas present in the history of Christmas presents.

photo 4 (31)

speaking of Christmas I may or may not have already started making the list of who we’ll need to buy for. may or may not . . . may . . . I might have . . . I did.

photo 2 (37)

One funny thing that happened this week that requires a little back story . . . a year ago when we first moved into this apartment we were recently married and I was changing my name which caused so many problems with our mail. On our lease the apartment is listed as A, but UPS would only deliver it with ‘apt A’ listed. If it just said A then it was returned as no such address. If it comes with my maiden name it is returned saying this person doesn’t live there. Even though we still receive mail – personal and ads – for the 2 people who lived there prior to us. No one could tell me what the problem was and my packages were being sent back, but I eventually caught on and changed my name everywhere and started listing it is ‘apt a’ everywhere and we haven’t had a problem since last Novemberish. So a week ago I went ahead and started the process of changing our address and having our mail forwarded. Around the same time I ordered a new dress for the influence conference next week. I didn’t think anything of having it sent to the apartment because I knew we would still be there when it was delivered and old navy comes fed ex. Nope, it was returned because ‘this person no longer lives at this address’. So I called fedex to see if it was being forwarded gave them the tracking number and all . . . and they have no record of it . . . Hopefully this all gets taken care of later today because of course the dress I want is not available in stores and I really don’t want to have to deal with finding a new dress and then returning that one when it finally arrives. But I’m trying to be non chalant about it as the picture above.

Have you checked out yesterdays post about our new floors? Even as many times as I’ve done laminate flooring I can’t get over how good these look!

the end.

I hope you had a good and have an even better weekend.

oh hey friday
